about

Returning in 2023 with two new projects at the same time, both continuations of the FMD series, Quetzal created a collaborative LP with the metal solo project, Doxophobia. The concept for the titles on this record were different forms of material, building or otherwise, that denominate certain qualities in the music. The sound itself (on the three longer cuts) is heavy free jazz and improvisation, with some nods in Leia's playing towards her storied past in playing different forms of extreme metal, and nods from Quetzal towards some of her favorite improvisers. The two shorter cuts are meant to break up the pace and showcase the two women playing outside the confines of the record, purely to entertain their own talent. We sincerely hope you enjoy and find yourself grooving along to the swiftly changing pace of this maelstrom.
All music present on the album was recorded between November of 2021 and December of 2022.

"There's something about this record that I hadn't felt before while making music. Leia is so, so different from me musically in almost everything that I felt it was going to be a challenge to line things up, but it ended up going about as smoothly as possible, and resulted in some really fun jams that I'm very proud of. Also, huge thank you to big sis for making us a wonderful cover."
