about

In her first trio affair since 2020's Új Európai Zajongások EP, Tirado teams up once again with multi-instrumentalist Nika Ticciati, as well as percussionist extraordinaire Teruki Chan, as part of an extended visit to Leeds. The three perform Tirado's creative music composition, New Isolationism on the first four tracks, built around extending the initial solo improvisation onto a jazz trio format (tenor saxophone - piano - drums), while significantly reducing the runtime, as well as performing a fully improvised set to commemorate the visit, in the face of Concrete Balloons. Both sides involve a great deal of extended techniques, interplay and little nods to improvisers and musicians that the trio hold in high regard, all the while crafting something entirely new. We sincerely hope you revel in the creative energy built and released throughout these 5 tracks.
All music on the album was recorded on January 29th, 2023, in Leeds, UK.

"We recorded a lot of stuff while I was over there, staying with Nika, but this one is so incredibly dear to me. Working with these two people I love, who just so happen to not only manage to work with me but even surpass my energy sometimes, it's a rare and amazing treat. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity, and I hope you enjoy what it led to."
