A more concise and focused follow-up to May's Quetzal (and Her Journey to Mictlan) comes in the form of this LP, God Is in the Details.
As an ambitious trans artist, Quetzal tackles the (to our knowledge) first recorded modern jazz piece themed around transgender issues and the political climate.
Inspired by the likes of Pharoah Sanders, Don Cherry, Scott Walker or even Colin Stetson, the project goes through many emotions and sounds. A twisting, changing, progressing jazz opus with the trademark baritone showcased in more ways than before.
We hope that you get the same enjoyment from listening to her sophomore LP as we did and we hope that you support Quetzal's future endeavors by purchasing her work. With every purchase, you support the future and health of a transgender artist and the existence of this pseudo-label. Thank you!
"[God Is in the Details] is dedicated to a great many things. It's a tribute to the people I look up to, the greatest jazz labels, my contemporaries, but it's also a commemoration for my love for the Creator and my love for my partner. It's also attributed to you, the listener. I want everyone to feel their own energy from this record. I want it to be your sacred commune."
